Cristiano Ronaldo discovers Barcelona transfer secret: Lionel Messi agrees with exit
CRISTIANO RONALDO has discovered that compatriot Andre Gomes is leaving Barcelona at the end of the season, a Spanish publication claims.
Cristiano Ronaldo has discovered Barcelona plan to sell Andre Gomes
Portugal international Gomes has been given the green light to quit the Nou Camp in the summer, according to Don Balon, and is already on the hunt for a new club.
Lionel Messi agrees with Barcelona’s decision to bin off the midfielder, it is claimed, but Ronaldo has caught wind of the plan.
Gomes has failed to nail down a regular spot since joining from Valencia in the summer of 2016.
He was voted the worst signing of the season by the readers of Spanish paper Marca last year and his woes have continued this term.
Gomes has been limited to four La Liga starts and remains behind Ivan Rakitic, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets in Ernesto Valverde’s pecking order.
Barcelona have been disappointed by Gomes’ performances, and a source recently told Spanish outlet AS: “It’s a real shame.
“He's a player who has so much to offer his team and his coach, but situations often just seem to get the better of him.”
Gomes is under contract until 2021 so Barcelona would hope to recoup most of the £30million they paid for his services.
Andre Gomes has struggled to nail down a place in the Barcelona team
The 24-year-old has been linked with a string of Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool.
Despite his lack of action, Gomes is likely to make Portugal’s squad for the World Cup in Russia.
He has won 27 caps for his country and played a starring role in the country’s Euro 2016 triumph.
