Man Utd news: Didi Hamann SLAMS Jose Mourinho in savage blow following Sevilla draw
FORMER Liverpool star Didi Hamann didn’t hold back in his assessment of Manchester United’s performance against Sevilla last night.
Scholes: Mourinho has lost a little bit of trust in Pogba
United had to settle for a 0-0 draw against the Spanish outfit in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash yesterday.
It gives the Red Devils a slight advantage heading into the second leg at home in three weeks’ time.
But United looked far from their best and Sevilla were unfortunate to not come away with a goal.
David de Gea was on top form, highlighted with a world-class stop from Luis Muriel’s close-range header.
Romelu Lukaku was often isolated up front while Alexis Sanchez struggled to influence the game.
And Hamann, who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, has laid the blame solely at Mourinho for adopting an ‘anti-football’ style of play against Sevilla.
“A good Sevilla performance, they did everything but score,” Hamann said on RTE Sport.
Jose Mourinho was accused of playing anti football
Didi Hamann said it was an embarrassing performance from Manchester United
“De Gea came to the rescue a few times and from United it was dreadful.
“It was anti-football in a way and I think for a club the size of United, for the money they have spent in recent years, that was an embarrassing performance.”
United now turn their attention to a crucial Premier League match against Chelsea on Sunday to maintain their hopes of finishing in the top four.
