MANCHESTER UNITED legend Rio Ferdinand has explained what he would have done to help Paul Pogba if he was his team-mate.
Paul Pogba has been given some advice from Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand
Pogba has come under criticism for his performances of late for Manchester United.
The Frenchman has been substituted in two of his last three Premier League appearances and started the other from the bench.
He missed the FA Cup fifth round win over Huddersfield on Saturday due to illness and was left out of the starting XI for the Champions League last-16 first-leg clash against Sevilla last night.
United boss Jose Mourinho claimed Pogba had not fully recovered from the weekend but was able to come on after 17 minutes due to an injury to Ander Herrera.
He would have found me a nightmare because I would have been pushing him all over the park
Ferdinand reckons Paul Pogba needs to improve the defensive side of his game and says he would have been screaming and pushing the midfielder around the pitch if he was his team-mate.
“I think positionally has been a big part of it,” Ferdinand said. “I would have been screaming at him if I was playing with him.
“He would have found me a nightmare because I would have been pushing him all over the park to where he needed to be.
“I think he needs that, he had that at Juventus, he doesn’t have it here.
Scholes reveals why Pogba left Man Utd initially
Rio Ferdinand has explained what he would have done to Paul Pogba if he was his Man Utd team-mate
“Here, positional sense, goal kick, you’re meant to be near your partner.
“He played in a two here with (Nemanja) Matic, they were too far away from each other.
“The two Tottenham players are there, attacking midfielders, you’re not in a position to defend, so such a bad position to start with.”
