Barcelona news: Luis Suarez makes Lionel Messi admission and fires warning to Chelsea
LUIS SUAREZ has admitted Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi had a tough time trying to break down Chelsea last night in the Champions League.
Lionel Messi took time before making his mark against Chelsea
Prior to the first leg of the last-16 tie, Messi had never scored in eight meetings against Chelsea in Europe.
It looked like his drought was going to continue when Willian opened the scoring for the Blues just after the hour mark.
But Messi wasn’t to be denied and he equalised 15 minutes from time to give Barcelona a precious away goal.
And Suarez has conceded Messi had to drop back deeper in order to get hold of the ball, especially in the first half.
Now they have to try to score at the Camp Nou and we'll have more space
He said: “I didn't feel alone up front.
“In these games you have to be intelligent and look for the best solution.
"Seeing that Leo [Messi] couldn't create chances, he dropped a bit deeper to find spaces."
Suarez also thinks Chelsea could have a tough night in the return leg as Barcelona are formidable at the Nou Camp.
