Chelsea news: Antonio Conte will know one thing now after West Brom win - Sutton
ANTONIO CONTE will now know he has all the Chelsea players behind him, according to Chris Sutton.
Antonio Conte saw his side ease past West Brom
Conte’s men bounced back from their 4-1 reverse against Watford last week to beat West Brom 3-0.
The Italian tactician came under intense scrutiny after the disappointing result at Vicarage Road, and at the time, it was thought his long-term future was uncertain.
Former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is waiting in the wings should Abramovich pull the trigger, although he apparently doesn't want to take charge until the summer if he gets the position.
But a more convincing display from Chelsea with goals from Eden Hazard and Victor Moses lifted some of the pressure off Conte’s shoulders.
The players are still with him. You could see that in the performance
While there has been ongoing speculation surrounding Conte and whether or not he will be sacked by Roman Abramovich, the victory over West Brom ensured they climbed back above Tottenham, who beat Arsenal 1-0 on Saturday, into fourth spot.
And BBC Sport pundit Sutton reckons everyone is pulling in the same direction at Stamford Bridge.
“If Chelsea beat Manchester United in their next league game they will go level on points,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 live.
“They had the match winner in Eden Hazard. It was all about the performance and result and Antonio Conte got it from his team.
Chris Sutton thinks Antonio Conte has the support of the Chelsea players
“Had Chelsea not won this game the future of Conte would be questioned again.
“You hear the Chelsea fans, they back their manager and so they should.
“The players are still with him. You could see that in the performance.”
