Olivier Giroud remembers bad days in message to Arsenal fans after joining rivals Chelsea
OLIVIER GIROUD has thanked Arsenal fans for sticking by him after the France international joined Chelsea today.
Chelsea have signed Olivier Giroud from Arsenal
Giroud endured some mixed times at Arsenal but also won three FA Cups with the Gunners.
Today Giroud joined Chelsea, signing an 18-month contract to end a six-year stay at the Emirates.
He was a £13million acquisition from Montpellier back in 2012 - the same summer Robin van Persie left for Manchester United.
Giroud failed to score in any of his first seven Arsenal appearances, leading to concerns he was an inadequate replacement for Dutchman Van Persie.
But the forward has thanked the Gunners faithful for sticking by him through thick and thin.
I spent five and a half amazing years within the arsenal family. This beautiful story ends today. Thank you for your warm welcome. I would like to especially thank the fans for their unconditional support upon my arrival #nananana #ThankYou pic.twitter.com/GofNGAi3pW

Olivier Giroud struggled in his early days at Arsenal
Giroud spent most of his time at Arsenal on the bench this season and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund today meant Chelsea could speak to the 31-year-old.
Giroud played in the 3-1 defeat at Swansea last night, coming off the bench for one last time in a Gunners shirt.
