And he revealed United are set to hand over a fee for Sanchez in order to get a deal over the line this month.
"When you look at these figures, they are eye-watering," he said.
"And they go some way… Well, they go a long way to explaining why Alexis Sanchez is going to spend the second half of this season and the next four seasons after that playing for Manchester United.
"We’re talking about a £30m transfer fee - which is quite a lot for somebody who’s available for free in the summer.
