Real Madrid news: Zinedine Zidane tells Cristiano Ronaldo to sort out contract
REAL MADRID star Cristiano Ronaldo will have to speak to the club’s hierarchy in order to secure himself a new contract.
Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo is under contract at Real Madrid until 2021
That’s what Bernabeu boss Zinedine Zidane has admitted amid speculation the Portuguese wants a wage rise.
Ronaldo won the fifth Ballon d’Or of his career in December, beating off competition from Lionel Messi and Neymar.
And reports have suggested he’s keen for Real to match the wages the duo receive from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
Zidane was asked about Ronaldo’s future at the pre-match press conference for tonight’s Copa del Rey showdown with Leganes.
And the Frenchman said it’s up to Florentino Perez and co. to handle contract talks with the 32-year-old.
'I don’t want to talk about the contract or things like that," said Zidane.
"Cristiano can do that and it’s him and the club who should talk about that.
"What I talk to Cristiano about are on-field matters. It’s better for everyone.
"Those upstairs manage it and I don’t get involved."

Zidane also discussed his own future with reports claiming he is under pressure at Real.
"I don’t overthink anything, I live day to day and I’ll not change that," he added.
"The situation is what it is today.
"In the two years that I have been here, when we have won a lot, I’ve always said the same thing.
"I know the situation and what this club is like and I always go day to day."
