Liverpool news: Emre Can transfer promise made by Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta
JUVENTUS chief Giuseppe Marotta has revealed his club will do everything they can to land Liverpool star Emre Can.
Steve Nicol: Emre Can to Juventus is a huge blow to Liverpool
The 24-year-old is out of contract in the summer and his Liverpool future remains up in the air.
Juventus remain in the driving seat for the German midfielder's signature and he can agree a pre-contract deal.
The Bianconeri have let some big deals slip through their fingers in the past, including Luis Suarez who was persuaded to stay with the Reds in 2012, even though he could have headed to Turin.
And when asked about how Can negotiations are progressing, Marotta said: “We know he will be out of his contract in June so we can hold talks with him.
Emre Can has yet to make a decision over his Liverpool future
We'll make everything we can to get him, intensifying contacts with Liverpool
“There's a lot of competition and we don't know if he want to sign a new contract with Liverpool or not.
“He is a very good player, we'll make everything we can to get him, intensifying contacts with Liverpool.”
Meanwhile, German football expert Marc Behrenbeck doesn’t envisage Can leaving Merseyside this month.
Giuseppe Marotta has vowed to sign Emre Can
He said: “I know that he hasn’t signed any contract with Juve but on the other hand Juventus are crazy about him.
“They want him as their new midfielder but Emre and his agent told me they will be having talks with Klopp in January and February and he will not be signed in the next few weeks.
“Staying at Liverpool is another chance but it’s really important for him to be at a really good team.”
