JURGEN KLOPP can use the money from Philippe Coutinho’s switch to Barcelona to launch an assault on the title next season for Liverpool, according to Newcastle legend Alan Shearer.

Klopp waved goodbye to one of his prize assets when he let Coutinho join Barcelona in a £142million deal last week.
The German tactician has brought in Virgil van Dijk from Southampton for £75m, and he’s still looking to bring forward Naby Keita’s move from RB Leipzig.
Liverpool coped well in their first game since Coutinho left, as they beat Manchester City 4-3 yesterday in an enthralling encounter at Anfield.
The result was City’s first defeat in the league, and they are currently 15 points clear of nearest challengers Manchester United, who host Stoke tonight (8pm).

Even without Philippe Coutinho this team is not far away
Shearer was impressed with what he saw from the Reds.
And he thinks Klopp’s men are perhaps just a couple of decent signings away from challenging for the title next season.
“Even without Philippe Coutinho this team is not far away,” Shearer told The Sun.

“With Virgil van Dijk they will already be better at the back.
“A couple more players with the huge £145milion fee they received from Barcelona for Coutinho and I can see them challenging next season — a decent goalkeeper would be a good start.”
Liverpool, who are up to third in the table, travel to Swansea next week.
