Liverpool news: Why Jurgen Klopp should be energised after Philippe Coutinho exit - Keown
LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp should be energised by Virgil van Dijk’s arrival and he could help the Reds achieve their goals in the second half of the season.
Virgil van Dijk is expected to make his Premier League debut for Liverpool against Manchester City
Those are the thoughts of Arsenal legend Martin Keown.
Liverpool welcome Manchester City tomorrow (4pm) to Anfield in what is set to a blockbuster showdown.
Meanwhile, Van Dijk, who signed in a £75million deal from Southampton, will make his Premier League debut for the Reds.
Last season, the Anfield outfit looked bereft of ideas having recorded four defeats, four draws and one win in the month of January.
And Keown thinks that Van Dijk’s arrival can boost Klopp’s mood for the rest of the season, starting off with the City clash.

Van Dijk is a gift for the second half of the season, a tonic to energise the manager
“Van Dijk is a gift for the second half of the season, a tonic to energise the manager and the players,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“Klopp has used his squad wisely with the likes of Dominic Solanke and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
“It has benefited his big names. Klopp is the dynamo.
"He generates all of that energy and enthusiasm in the team.
Martin Keown thinks Virgil van Dijk will be the perfect tonic for Liverpool
“The team reflect Klopp — they reflect the good things of him.
“They were tired last year because he was tired. If he is energised and up for it, they will be too.
“This clash will be a cracker.”
