Wilshere plea made
13:30: Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been told to build his team around Jack Wilshere.
Former Gunners defender Martin Keown is a big fan of Wilshere and believes he’s as good as Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
“It feels like the end of an era at Arsenal with everyone looking for the exit door,” Keown told talkSPORT. “Jack Wilshere encompasses the future.
“He’s like a shining light, coming back from a career that looked like it was going to be finished at the top level. He’s as good as these guys. He’s the player Arsene Wenger needs to build around, if he can trust him.
“Sanchez now looks like he’s trying to force that move out of the club. I just don’t like the feeling. There is a bad smell at the club and Wenger can never have been in a more difficult situation at the club, managerially. It must test him every day having to work in this situation.
“He’s been trying to get these players to sign for two and a half years. It’s a conversation which has never gone away and, really, what are you going to get for them now?”
Sanchez to Liverpool
11:05: Liverpool should raid Arsenal for Alexis Sanchez after selling Philippe Coutinho, according to former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson.
Lawrenson reckons Sanchez would be the ideal replacement for Coutinho.
"There is a fella at Arsenal who wants out called Alexis Sanchez, that would be very interesting if Liverpool decide to go for someone like that," he told BBC Sport.
"If you can get Sanchez, and you have already got Virgil van Dijk, then that is good business, probably good business for everyone."
Calm Maitland-Niles
09:55: Ainsley Maitland-Niles believes the reason he is so calm on the pitch us due to his personality.
“That’s just how I play,” he told Arsenal Player. “I know people think, ‘Oh he looks too relaxed, he looks like this or that’, but it’s just me as a person.
“It is quite odd for a youngster, but the team make me feel more comfortable. They have trust in me and they will give me the ball when I need to be given the ball. It’s just the team who have helped me settle by working together and I think I’ve earned their trust.
“Of course I get nervous before the game too but, I think everyone has those little butterflies in their stomach. You’re playing against world-class players every week, so you’re bound to be nervous at some point in the day.
“I think my dad’s influence helped too. He’s a very relaxed person who likes to use his brain a lot without talking. If he can’t fix the situation then of course he’ll speak about it and try to solve it with other people. I’m like that too.”
