But Christiansen is willing to risk their spot in the competition by rotating his squad and giving game time to fringe players.
Leeds have played four games in the space of nine days but now have an 11-day break before their next league fixture.
Christiansen said: “I think it's important.
“It has been a tough moment with four games in eight, nine days so the players need to recover.”

Despite the punishing schedule, Christiansen has no room for complaints about the festive fixture list.
"Well, it has been like this many years," he said.
"It's like a tradition so you change the tradition or keep it this way.
"I remember this from when I was younger and now I face it myself so we will see but it's the same for all the teams so not that you can say that one team gets a profit of that and another one don't."
