Sheffield Wednesday hope to hold talks with Andre Villas-Boas
Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri wants to hold talks with the former Chelsea and Tottenham manager in a bid to lure him to Hillsborough as Carlos Carvalhal’s replacement.
Villas-Boas is out of work after quitting Chinese club Shanghai SIPG last month.
But the Owls will have to wait until Villas-Boas has competed in the Dakar Rally.
The 40-year-old’s adventure begins in Lima, Peru on January 6.
They could be forced to hold off their approach until the end of January if Villas-Boas completes the race.
Caretaker boss Lee Bullen has presided over a win and a defeat since taking temporary charge.
The Owls, who have reached the play-offs in the last two seasons, are currently 16th in the table.
It was reported earlier this week that Chansiri had held talks with Steve McClaren but he is not under consideration for the post.
