Hazard’s father suggested his son is holding out for a move to the Bernabeu yesterday and insisted he has already turned down a contract offer from Chelsea.
Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Perez are long-term admirers of the Belgium international and the appreciation seemingly goes both ways.
The 26-year-old has previously stated it would be a “dream” to play under Zidane.
Despite his contract not running out until 2020, Chelsea are desperate to enter talks over a new lucrative deal.
However, former England international Upson believes Chelsea would be powerless to Hazard leaving if Real came calling.
“As a player sometimes you're at a club for a period of time, and you feel like it's time to move on for a new challenge,” Upson said told Final Score.
“Eden Hazard has been at Chelsea for five years or so, now, so the preposition of Real Madrid might be too much to resist for him.
