Barcelona ran out 3-0 winners over Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the season last night to move 14 points clear of Los Blancos at the top of La Liga.
Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Aleix Vidal all got on the scoresheet in what was a frustrating match for Real’s talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.
And one moment in particular summed up the Portuguese’s miserable afternoon.
With Ronaldo in the wall for a Messi free-kick, the 32-year-old was struck in the face by the Argentine’s fierce shot.

While doing his team duties for his side and ultimately denying his opponent a goal, many fans loved the moment his arch-rival struck the ball straight into his face.
“Messi hitting Ronaldo in the face with ball is my aesthetic,” one fan tweeted.
“Messi kicking the ball into Ronaldo’s face will be one of the highlights of my life. Right next to getting married and having kids,” another added.

One supporter said: “Ronaldo wanted a Guard of Honour, and received a present from Messi via a freekick to his face.”
Despite Messi losing out to Ronaldo in the Ballon d’Or vote earlier this month, it seems the 30-year-old has had the last laugh of 2017.
With La Liga now on a break until the New Year, you can guarantee that clip will be played over and over in the Messi household this Christmas.
