Aston Villa news: Steve Bruce reveals why Keinan Davis missed Derby County defeat
ASTON VILLA boss Steve Bruce has revealed why striker Keinan Davis missed the 2-0 defeat to Derby County.
Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis missed the game due to illness
The 19-year-old, who has impressed in Jonathan Kodjia’s absence this term, fell ill overnight and was unable to rise from his sickbed.
Bruce said: “We spoke to him this morning and he was so sick he couldn’t get out of bed.
“It’s a shame, but these things happen.”
Former Villa forward Andreas Weimann opened the scoring before Johnny Russell sealed all three points at the death for Derby.
It was Villa’s first defeat in six games and Bruce was fuming with his side’s performance.

“I can’t remember us making that many mistakes all season,” he said.
“From the very first minute we put them through and didn’t really recover.
“Individual error is something we have to eradicate because we’ve made far too many mistakes.
“When we analyse it, we’ve huffed and puffed but we’ve gifted them the game, really.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce was frustrated with his side's performance
“The disappointing thing was the number we made, especially in a big game of this magnitude.
“We made so many it was scary.”
Meanwhile, Bruce has revealed what he must do for fit-again winger Jack Grealish.
