Boavista give cancer sufferer Edu Fernandez new contract in 'world class' move from club
BOAVISTA have given forward Edu Fernandez a new contract as he continues to battle against cancer.

The Portuguese top-flight club have confirmed Fernandez, 20, has signed a new deal until 2019.
Fernandez was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, prompting Boavista to confirm they would honour his contract.
His current deal was set to expire this season but the club have outlined their commitment to his battle.
“Boavista confirms that we have renewed the contract of player Edu Fernandez until the end of 2018/19,” a statement read.
“We hope that this obstacle is quickly overtaken.
“We will always stand alongside our player in his struggle, which is also ours.”

Fans immediately responded to the message, with one writing on Twitter: “Just to say well done Boavista! An impressive, world class act! Wish Edu at the same time a rapid recovery!”
Another tweeted: “Strength Edu!!”
Boavista sit eighth in the Portuguese Liga but have won just one of their last four games.
They host Sporting Lisbon on Saturday after drawing 0-0 at Chaves last weekend.
