Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp change in philosophy will help Reds reap benefits - Neville
JURGEN KLOPP should take credit for keeping his Liverpool squad fresh, according to Phil Neville.
Jurgen Klopp has overseen a transformation in Liverpool's fortunes over the past weeks
After a dismal start to the season, Liverpool have hit their stride in recent weeks.
A 5-1 victory away to Brighton on Saturday saw them climb into the top four of the Premier League for the first time since August.
Questions were asked of the Reds’ defence earlier on in the season.
But Neville thinks Klopp’s rotation of his squad will work to his side’s advantage in the second half of the campaign.
So far he’s made 54 changes, more than any other team in the top flight.
Sadio Mane insists he has no problem with Jurgen Klopp
He’s got a better squad. He’s taking risks this week and they’re all in good form
“They got to New Year and then hit a massive brick wall and had too many injuries,” Neville told BBC’s Match of the Day.
“This year he’s spreading the workload. This week, he’s rotated his team.
“He’s left Sadio Mane out twice, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino his big players.
Phil Neville thinks Liverpool look a lot fresher
“So when it comes to Christmas period and January and when they are going for the league and Champions League, he’s got all his best players fit and fresh.
“That’s a massive change in philosophy with Klopp.
“He’s got a better squad. He’s taking risks this week and they’re all in good form.”
