SIMON MIGNOLET miraculously escaped a red card after this shocking hack on Mame Biram Diouf during Liverpool's win over Stoke last night.
Simon Mignolet somehow escaped a red card for this hack on Mame Biram Diouf
With Liverpool leading 1-0 after Sadio Mane’s opener, Mignolet raced out of his area to close down Diouf as he latched on to a lofted through-ball.
The Senegalese striker reached the ball first, tapping it around Mignolet as the Belgian took a wild swing in an attempt to clear the danger.
Mignolet clattered Diouf just below the knee, felling the 29-year-old with the goal at his mercy.
Amazingly, referee Martin Atkinson decided to only brandish a yellow card despite a clear goalscoring opportunity being denied.
Diouf and his manager Mark Hughes were incensed, and their moods would not have improved as Liverpool went on to win the match 3-0 thanks to Mohamed Salah’s late double.
