Arsenal news: Jack Wilshere provides update on Gunners future
ARSENAL midfielder Jack Wilshere has spoken out about his future at the Emirates Stadium.
Leon Osman: Ozil leaving Arsenal would benefit Wilshere
The 25-year-old has not started a Premier League match this season and looks highly unlikely to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup next year.
Wilshere played from the off against Cologne in the Europa League yesterday, but he failed to impress as the Gunners lost 1-0.
It is thought that Wilshere may seek a move away in the January transfer window to search for regular game time.
The ex-Bolton loanee spent last season at Bournemouth but still struggled to force his way into Arsene Wenger’s plans when he returned.
Jack Wilshere was unable to prevent Arsenal losing to Cologne.
And even though he is on the fringes of the first team, he insists that he want to stay in north London and fight for his place.
He said, "Of course I want to be playing. It's difficult when you play every three weeks.
"It's the same as every player.
“I’m still determined to win my place back, I'm working hard and we'll see what the future holds - if I can get in or I can't."
Despite defeat, Arsenal qualified to the knockout stages as group winners.
But Wilshere was still disappointed with the way his side performed.
“When you lose any game, you’re frustrated,” Wilshere added.
The ex-Bolton loanee is hoping to get into the England World Cup squad next summer.
"We thought we were in control in the first half, we felt like they wanted to sit back and then hurt us on the counter attack.
"I felt we dealt with that well in the first half but then they came out in the second half, they were sharp, we were trying to push.
"And a little lapse in concentration and they get the goal and then it’s difficult from then."
