Man Utd news: Daley Blind accepts blame for Champions League defeat to Basel
DALEY BLIND has accepted blame for his role in Manchester United’s defeat to Basel.
Michael Lang's goal means Manchester United will have to wait to qualify for the last 16
Manchester United were made to wait to book their spot in the last 16 of the Champions League after a surprise 1-0 loss away to Basel last night.
A strike from Michael Lang with just a minute remaining of normal time meant United missed the opportunity to safeguard their progress into the knockout stages of the competition.
Blind failed to pick up his man and Lang tapped in at the far post from a Raoul Petretta cross.
And the Dutchman admitted he was at fault for Basel’s winner.

United will only fail to reach the last 16 of the Champions League if they lose by more than six goals in their final group game against CSKA Moscow.
Should Basel match or better CSKA’s result, then they will be through.
United resume Premier League duties at home to Brighton on Saturday (3pm).
