ASTON VILLA manager Steve Bruce has revealed Jonathan Kodjia is set to undergo an operation on his ankle injury.
Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia is set to undergo an operation on his ankle
Kodjia damaged his ankle while on international duty with Ivory Coast last week.
He has been assessed by specialists and is now expected to go under the knife.
“It’s not looking good, in fact it’s flaming awful if I’m being honest,” Bruce said.
“He needs another operation and that’s devastating news.
“It’s going to be months and that is a big blow to us.
“With [Scott] Hogan missing as well, it’s a huge blow because we know how important he was to us last year.

It’s devastating for us all
“Without your No.9 it’s always going to be difficult.
“But we’ll have to deal with it. We’ll have to.
“Let’s hope we can find something in January to help us because that’s going to be vitally important.”
Bruce delivered the latest on Kodjia after Villa’s 2-1 win against Sunderland.
Albert Adomah bagged his third goal in two games before Josh Onomah doubled the lead.
Lewis Grabban pulled one back late on but Bruce’s men held on for all three points.
Albert Adomah celebrates his goal against Sunderland
“Fair play to Sunderland, we musn’t forget they’ve still got some Premier League experience, people who have played at the highest level are playing out on that pitch for them tonight,” he said.
“I never thought it was going to be easy. We found a way to win.
“We didn’t play well at all, we understand that.
“Sometimes you have to roll your sleeves up and get the job done and thankfully the two little bits of quality that we’ve seen with the goals, especially Snoddy (Robert Snodgrass’ cross) for the first one has given us the win that we badly need.”
