Chelsea news: Ray Wilkins slams Blues over three transfer decisions
CHELSEA summer-signing Tiemoue Bakayoko is not £34million better than Nathaniel Chalobah.
Ian Wright: Bakayoko shouldn't be in Chelsea's first team
That is the view of former Chelsea midfielder and assistant manager Ray Wilkins.
France midfielder Bakayoko joined the Blues from Monaco in July for £40million.
Two days before, Antonio Conte allowed Chalobah to switch Stamford Bridge for Watford for a fee of £6million.
Chelsea also let two-time Premier League winner Nemanja Matic to leave the club for Manchester United.
I don’t really see the differential between Bakayoko at £40million and Chalobah at six
Wilkins is not happy with any of the three deals, especially allowing Matic to join a direct rival for the Premier League title in United.
But he also cannot understand why his Chelsea got rid of Chalobah for so much less than they paid for Bakayoko.
“Chalobah went for £6million,” Wilkins told BBC Radio 5 Live on Monday evening.
“I can’t quite see that at £6million. I don’t really see the differential between Bakayoko at £40million and Chalobah at six.
Chelsea news: Tiemoue Bakayoko is not worth £34million more than Nathaniel Chalobah, says Wilkins
“I can’t see £34million difference between the two guys.
“Chalobah just comes back from the Under-21 European Championships and all of a sudden he is bombed out for £6million.
“£34million comes in and we sell the best holding midfield player in the country to one of our biggest rivals.
“I can’t really see how that happens.”
