Chelsea news: PSG defender reveals summer transfer snub
PSG defender Thomas Meunier has claimed he rejected a move to Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window.
Thomas Meunier had an opportunity to join Chelsea
Meunier established himself as PSG’s first choice right back last season ahead of controversial Serge Aurier.
But his term, the Belgian has lost his starting place after the arrival of Dani Alves from Juventus in the summer.
Nevertheless, Meunier has still managed to make 12 appearances and score three goals for the increasingly impressive French side.
In his efforts to strengthen Chelsea’s squad after winning the Premier League, manager Antonio Conte was keen to sign a right-sided defender in the summer.

But after struggling to attain all his targets, Chelsea settled on Davide Zappacosta from Torino.
However, Meunier has revealed he could have been lining up at Stamford Bridge but turned down the league champions to fight for his place.
"I was expecting PSG to sign another right-back, but didn't foresee them getting Dani Alves," he told Eleven Sports.
"I didn't know what to think. Was I going to remain on the subs' bench all the time?

"I could have left for Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window. But I didn't want to join them.
"I am happy at PSG and I don't want to leave. I want to become their first-choice right-back between now and the end of the season.
"Professionally, things could not be better for me. I am free from injury, and I am playing for arguably the best team in the world right now."
