Liverpool news: Maribor win was more difficult that scoreline suggests - Alexander-Arnold
TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD has claimed that Liverpool's 3-0 win over Maribor was more difficult than the scoreline suggests.
Alexander-Arnold had an easy evening at the back for Liverpool
The Reds obliterated the Slovenian minnows 7-0 in the reverse fixture two weeks ago.
And Maribor were intent on not being embarrassed a second time around when they arrived at Anfield.
Their deep defensive line made the match much more difficult for the creative talents of Roberto Firmino and Mohammed Salah.
And defender Alexander-Arnold believes his side have to be much better when they come up against other defensive-minded teams.
Emre Can got on the scoresheet for the Reds
"It is hard because their aim is to come here for a point and we want all three,” Alexander-Arnold said.
“There are different objectives, we want to score and they are trying to stop up.
“Any team that comes here is always good at that. We have to break it down and we did that in the second half."
James Milner was even afforded a first-half penalty miss
"We noticed a lot of our chances were coming from crosses so we decided to continue to do that in the second half.”
Goals from Salah, Emre Can and Daniel Sturridge eventually wrapped up the win on a frustrating evening.
Liverpool sit top of the Champions League group, one points above Sevilla and three above Spartak Moscow, with two games remaining.
