Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho is like Floyd Mayweather - Gary Neville
JOSE MOURINHO’s coaching style is similar to the boxing reputation of Floyd Mayweather.
Allardyce puzzled by Man Utd fans' anger at Mourinho's tactics
That’s according to Manchester United legend Gary Neville, who claims Mourinho is able to get into his opposite number’s head.
United returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday with a well-earned 1-0 victory over Tottenham.
Anthony Martial grabbed the winner nine minutes from the finish while it was also the Red Devils’ eighth clean sheet in 10 league games.
Both Liverpool and now Tottenham have been unable to break down Mourinho’s rigid defence but the United boss has been criticised in recent weeks for his tactics.
Mayweather is called boring at times, where he uses defence as a weapon, let's people punch themselves out
However, Neville believes it takes a very special manager to be able to deploy such a system and has likened him to Mayweather.
"Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp have got wonderful reputations for being attacking coaches,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“But Mourinho is a little bit like [Floyd] Mayweather at times. Mayweather is called boring at times, where he uses defence as a weapon, let's people punch themselves out.

"Jurgen Klopp in that game a few weeks ago didn't feel he could fully go for it, because he felt: 'He's going to do me, I don't want to get done by a Mourinho masterclass.' And I think Tottenham lacked the belief to go for it on Saturday.
"I think he gets into [the coaches'] heads, and has them thinking: 'I can't get done on the counter-attack here, he'll do me'.
“And that's a great coach, to think he can have other coaches spoiling their tactics.
“So in some ways I think he does deserve more respect, his record is unbelievable."
