Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho opens up on his thoughts after Victor Lindelof's mistake
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has refused to blame Victor Lindelof after his mistake led to a Huddersfield goal.
Jose Mourinho refused to blame Victor Lindelof
Lindelof was forced in action in the first half when Phil Jones came off with an injury.
But moments into his first Manchester United appearance in the Premier League, the Sweden defender misjudged a long ball which allowed Laurent Depoitre to round David De Gea and give the Terriers a 2-0 lead after 33 minutes.
Juan Mata was also at fault for Huddersfield's first goal through Aaron Mooy. But Mourinho was reluctant to apportion blame to his players.
He said: "Mistakes, yes. But I think the mistakes can't be isolated of the context.
I would be very unfair if I point the finger of the players involved in the individual mistakes that lead to the goal
"And the context of the first half was a context that opened the door for mistakes to come.
"So I would be very unfair if I point the finger of the players involved in the individual mistakes that lead to the goal.
Victor Lindelof had a poor match for Manchester United
"I would probably if it was isolated of the context of a great team.
"But it wasn't. It was exactly the context of what were in the first half.
"So a bad team deserved to be punished."
