CHELSEA and Manchester United have the advantage over Manchester City in the Premier League title race because they have proven goalkeepers.
Chelsea and Manchester United have the advantage over Man City in title race, says Schmeichel
That is the view of pundit and former Manchester United and City goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.
Manchester City currently sit top of the Premier League table after eight games, two points clear of second-placed United.
Reigning champions Chelsea are further adrift in fifth, with their title defence damaged by two successive defeats.
City are the favourites with the bookies to come out on top for the first time since 2014.
In that respect, I think that Chelsea and Manchester United have a little bit of an edge
But Schmeichel says Manchester City's summer-signing from Benfica, Ederson, is yet to prove he can win them up to 15 points a season between the sticks.
He believes that is something United's David de Gea and Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois have already shown in their time in England.
“You need your goalkeeper to save between 12-15 points to win the Premier League,” Schmeichel told talKSPORT.
“We know De Gea can do that, he’s done more than that.

Manchester United legend Schmeichel is not sure Ederson can win Man City the points they need
“We know with Courtois, he can do that.
“What we don’t know is with Ederson, can he do that?
“He’s had a really good start but we are only in October.
“In that respect, I think that Chelsea and Manchester United have a little bit of an edge.”
