The Portuguese tactician has 18 months left to run on a three-year deal that he signed when he took over from Louis van Gaal in May 2016.
Mourinho’s men have enjoyed a fabulous start to the season, and they are just two points behind Manchester City in second spot.
The 54-year-old hinted at managing Paris Saint-Germain over the weekend, sparking fears his reign won’t be as long as many anticipated.
Mourinho also dropped a cryptic hint about potentially managing Barcelona one day.
However, according to the Daily Mail, United will open talks over extending his contract although no fixed date has been given.

The report says talks are expected to take place over the coming months, and club chiefs are supposedly unconcerned about Mourinho’s long-term future at Old Trafford.
It is also suggested Mourinho would be open to coaching at international level.
