The Manchester City midfielder was the stand-out name in the 26-man squad, having performed well as a replacement for the injured Benjamin Mendy in recent weeks.
Gareth Soughate’s men welcome Slovenia to Wembley next Thursday before heading to Lithuania three days later, and fans have slammed the squad selection after seeing Delph handed a call-up following just a couple of impressive displays.
West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore has also received some criticism on Twitter after his inclusion, while Nathaniel Chalobah, Danny Welbeck, Tom Heaton and Jamie Vardy all miss out due to injury.
