Leicester vs Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp’s side showed they have leaders - Rio Ferdinand
LIVERPOOL showed they do have leaders in their team in their 3-2 win over Leicester today.
Leicester vs Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp's side showed they have leaders, says Ferdinand
That is the view of pundit and former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand.
Liverpool have been criticised of late of not having enough leaders on the pitch.
But Ferdinand says the final 20 minutes of the game at the King Power showed they do.
“In them situations you need leaders on the pitch to be able to deal with the emotions of the game,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
Liverpool were able to take the sting out of the game and the emotion out of the way Leicester were playing
“You can get carried away, they score, we score and it becomes a bit of a rollercoaster, up and down game.
“I think you need people with experience, the leaders, the (Jordan) Hendersons of this world, the (James) Milners.
“He was a good substitution to come and try and sure it up and just stiffen things up.
“They were able to take the sting out of the game and the emotion out of the way Leicester were playing.”
Mick Quinn: Negligence and arrogance has hurt Liverpool
Goals from Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson were enough to see off Craig Shakespeare’s Leicester.
With the score at 3-2, Foxes striker Jamie Vardy saw his penalty crucially saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
Liverpool are next in action away to Spartak Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday (7.45pm).
