JURGEN KLOPP should have signed Stoke’s Jack Butland to help resolve Liverpool’s goalkeeper crisis.
Klopp 'SICK' of Liverpool's defending after Leicester defeat
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has had a recurring selection issue with his current keepers Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.
He rotated the duo for a fourth consecutive game in the 1-1 draw over Burnley.
And he even brought Danny Ward into the equation after handing him his first start of the season in the 2-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Leicester at the King Power Stadium.
Klopp has come under criticism for failing to bring in a centre-back this season after failing to have an alternative in place for top target Virgil van Dijk.
I would’ve gone with Butland. I think he is of the right age and experience now.
But Pearce reckons the need for a new goalkeeper is also a pressing matter and was baffled as to why Liverpool did not prioritise strengthening between the sticks.
“I’m still a little bit flummoxed about the goalkeeper situation,” Pearce told Sky Sports’ The Debate.
When asked what keeper he would’ve signed for Liverpool, Pearce added: “I would’ve gone with Butland.
“I think he is of the right age and experience now. I think he wouldn’t be phased at Liverpool.

He also admitted that if Liverpool do not sign a top goalkeeper they will find themselves out of contention to win major honours.
Pearce explained: “I don’t think they have got a top goalkeeper and if you are going to win anything you’ve got to have a top goalkeeper.”
Liverpool return to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester tomorrow (5:30pm).
