Fleck for Scotland is plan crazy
BARRY FERGUSON reckons it is crazy for Scotland boss George Burley to be talking about pitching teenager John Fleck into an international baptism of fire against Holland in Amsterdam.
The Rangers and Scotland captain shares a room with 17-year-old Fleck on club duty and has been disturbed by the hype that has exploded around the youngster’s breakthrough into the first-team this season.
Ferguson reckons it is ridiculous that Burley has even been asked about naming Fleck in the squad for the World Cup qualifier with the Dutch on March 28 and has begged the whole of Scottish football to stop piling pressure on the Light Blues prodigy.
Asked about talk of Fleck earning a debut cap next month, he said: "It is crazy.
“People, for whatever reason, try to put far too much pressure on him.
“He’s probably the best talent to come through in years and years, so let’s get behind him.

“He’s only just broken into the Rangers team.
“It’s up to George to say what he thinks but, for me, just let him go and play.
“He is only 17. He’s just out of school.
“He is the best I’ve seen, probably, but you don’t want to put too much pressure on him.
“Let him go and enjoy his football.
“He has been pushing for a while now and a lot of people were calling for him to play, but the manager knows what to do with young boys and now he has broken into the team and done well.”
