Van Dijk has been subject of interest from Liverpool throughout the summer transfer window.
Southampton do not want to sell the defender, despite him handing in a transfer request earlier this month.
Fellow Dutchman Zeegelaar, who completed a four-year deal with Watford from Sporting Lisbon today, says he did not speak to Van Dijk before signing for the Hornets.
But he is waiting to see if anything happens with his countryman before the 11pm deadline.

If Van Dijk was to stay at Southampton, Zeegelaar could make his Watford debut against him on Saturday September 9 (3pm).
However, he is not certain that will be the case.
“Yeah who knows?” Zeegelaar said when asked about playing against Van Dijk.
“If he stays! We will see.”
Van Dijk has not played for Southampton since January due to a serious ankle injury.
