Arsenal transfer news: Lucas Perez closes in on move to Deportivo
LUCAS PEREZ is close to completing a return to Deportivo La Coruna with discussions ongoing between the Spanish club and Arsenal since this morning.
Arsenal star Lucas Perez has been linked with a return to Deportivo La Coruna
According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners wanted a deal in excess of £13m but it seems likely they will compromise for a modest loan fee of £4m.
The La Liga club have time until Friday to complete the loan move of their former striker as the transfer window closes a day later in Spain.
It is understood Perez is confident he will return to the Riazor, from where he joined Arsene Wenger’s side last summer for £17.1m.
Everton also launched a deadline day move for the Spaniard as Ronald Koeman sees him as a potential Romelu Lukaku replacement.
Newcastle have also been keeping tabs as Rafa Benitez might need Perez to come in and take the place of Fulham-bound Dwight Gayle.
There has also been interest from clubs outside the Premier League, such as Valencia and Marseille.
Perez made a total of 21 appearances for Arsenal last season, scored seven goals and produced five assists.
But the ex-PAOK star only started four matches after Christmas and never again featured in Arsenal’s line-up after the FA Cup win at Sutton in February.
