Liverpool transfer news: Philippe Coutinho Barcelona move wouldn’t surprise me - Townsend
ANDY TOWNSEND concedes he wouldn’t be surprised if Philippe Coutinho left Liverpool on deadline day.
Mark Lawrenson: Philippe Coutinho is a problem for Klopp
The transfer window closes at 11pm tonight, but Coutinho’s future is yet to be resolved.
The Brazilian has been agitating for a move to Barcelona, but the Reds have so far remained resolute, rejecting three bids from the Catalan giants.
Klopp has been splashing the cash in the final week of the window, agreeing a £35million fee for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Naby Keita, who will officially join next summer, could end up costing £55m.
And Townsend has drawn comparisons to Coutinho’s situation and Luis Suarez, who stayed on at Anfield for one more year before joining Barca in 2014 for a fee of £65m.

It wouldn’t surprise me, with that extra 24 hours if Coutinho did go
Barca have time on their hands with the Spanish window not closing until tomorrow evening.
“With Luis Suarez, there was that agreement where he gave them one more year before he could go,” Townsend said on Sky Sports.
“You just wonder if that agreement has already been struck.
Jurgen Klopp has held firm over Philippe Coutinho so far
“It does seem slightly strange their spending so much money. They’ve just done Naby Keita.
“They’re really going for it, literally as the window is about to close.
“It wouldn’t surprise me, with that extra 24 hours if Coutinho did go.”
