Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona: Stoke defender Geoff Cameron admits he’d accept transfer
PHILIPPE COUTINHO “can’t turn down” a club like Barcelona as Liverpool battle to keep hold of their star, believes Stoke defender Geoff Cameron.
Barcelona want to sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool
Liverpool have so far reused Barcelona’s offers to buy Coutinho and are determined to keep him.
That has left to the Brazilian handing in a transfer request in the hope of securing a move before Thursday’s deadline.
Barca are tipped to launch a new £138million bid for Coutinho after agreeing a similar-priced deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele the week.
And Stoke’s USA international Cameron can understand why Coutinho is keen on the Nou Camp.
“They still have £150m to spend. For me if I'm Coutinho you want to go,” Cameron said on 5Live.
“It's an opportunity you can't turn down.
“How often does Barcelona come knocking asking you to replace the likes of Neymar, or be an influential player?
“If he doesn't go it's going to be hard mentally knowing that the club kind of turned you down a little bit.”
Coutinho, 25, is yet to play a competitive minute for Liverpool this season.
Last term he came on against Stoke and scored the equaliser to inspire a 2-1 win at the Potters.

And Cameron remembers playing against the Brazilian.
“If you're going to play alongside Messi, put yourself alongside those world class players, it's only going to improve your game,” he said.
“For me playing against him, he's quick, sharp and can take guys on in any way. You give him space and the ball is in the back of the net. He did it to us at home last season. He had one opportunity, came on as a sub and tied the game.
