Carragher ROASTS Rooney after Everton draw against City
That is the opinion of former Manchester City striker and pundit Shaun Goater.
Rooney netted in the 35th minute of Everton’s 1-1 draw with City at the Etihad, squeezing the ball past goalkeeper Ederson.
The Manchester United hero’s landmark moment came in his 462nd game in the English top flight, considerably slower than Shearer.
Shearer is still 60 goals ahead of Rooney but Goater says it would be unfair to compare the two, considering Rooney has played in a number of positions during his career at United and Everton.

It’s still a great accomplishment
“It’s still a great accomplishment,” Goater said on Sky Sports.
“But comparing him to Alan Shearer, Alan Shearer was an out-and-out goalscorer.
“He was phenomenal, you say a striker typically wants two chances, but Alan Shearer you give him half a chance and it’s a goal.
