Shaw, 22, has been linked with a move away from Manchester United this summer with just 10 months remaining on his current deal.
It is said United were prepared to offload the England international for a Champions League quality left-back as Jose Mourinho looks to make a fourth signing.
Tottenham were apparently lurking with Mauricio Pochettino yet to make a summer signing.
However, The Times claim Manchester United are ready to exercise an option in his current contract to keep him at Old Trafford for a further year.
Manchester United are ready to offer Luke Shaw a contract extension
The former Southampton man has returned to first-team training after suffering ligament damage to his left foot during the 1-1 draw against Swansea in April.
There is no timeframe on when he will make his comeback, but Jose Mourinho apparently expects him to be fit for selection next month.
Shaw previously came under criticism from the Portuguese boss for his inability to play through the pain barrier and his mental capacity to perform without managerial guidance.
But The Times say Mourinho was impressed by the defender during the pre-season tour of America and is now keen to keep him at the club.
Manchester United are ready to offer Luke Shaw a contract extension
Express Sport understands United have abandoned plans to sign Tottenham star Danny Rose after Daniel Levy told the club that he was not for sale.
And it appears as if United are now ready to put their trust in Shaw this season.
Mourinho only has Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian as alternatives, but they are not natural left-backs.
Marcos Rojo is also not expected to recover from his knee injury until December at the earliest.
