Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool: Jamie Redknapp says agent will force Southampton exit
VIRGIL VAN DIJK will not stay at Southampton this summer because player power is too strong, says Jamie Redknapp.
Liverpool want to sign Virgil van Dijk
Liverpool want to sign Van Dijk, who today handed in a transfer request at St Mary’s.
The Reds have already been threatened with a complaint to the Premier League over what Saints deemed was an illegal approach earlier this season.
Liverpool backed off the player but have since come back in and a £50million transfer has been proposed.
Van Dijk today confirmed his desire to leave Southampton.
And former Liverpool player Redknapp concedes Saints are have little they can do about the situation.

Agents want to move players
“I just don’t see any way that Virgil van Dijk is a Southampton player (at the end of the summer),” Redknapp said on Sky Sports.
“I think he will force the issue. This is player power now.
“Agents want to move players. Jamie Carragher was a one-club man and I have to respect him for that. But agents don’t want one-club men.
“They want men who go from club to club because that’s where they get their big money from.
“That’s why whoever looks after (Van Dijk) will want him to move on and get as much money as possible.”
Chelsea are also interested in Van Dijk but with Liverpool having yet to strengthen the centre of their defence it appears as though a move to Anfield is on the cards.
