Ivan Perisic: Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho admits transfer defeat
MANCHESTER UNITED will not sign Ivan Perisic this summer, with Jose Mourinho admitting defeat in their pursuit of the Inter Milan star.
Manchester United want to sign Ivan Perisic
Manchester United wanted to sign Perisic but were unwilling to meet Inter’s £48million demands.
Perisic was open to the idea of a move to Old Trafford but now looks set to sign a new contract at the San Siro.
Asked about why United had failed to capture the winger, Mourinho shrugged and told reporters: “That’s football.
“If I was playing against Inter tomorrow I’d want to win.
“They’re strong, they put up a good defence to keep someone who’s an important player for them. That’s football.”

Inter rejected two bids for Perisic before offering the Croatia international an £86,000-a-week contract.
Negotiations are ongoing, with the player reportedly demanding a deal worth £104,000 a week.
Mourinho had hoped to plunder his old side - who he led to Champions League glory in 2010.
But new Inter manager Luciano Spalletti was insistent that Perisic didn’t leave.
The boss is also determined to keep hold of Antonio Candreva, who is a Chelsea target.

Discussing Spalletti, Mourinho said via Sport Mediaset: “The truth is that since I left, all Inter coaches have had the same messages from me.
“I want them to win trophies for the Interisti, and when I say Interisti what I mean is us.
“Spalletti received the same message I gave to Gasperini, Ranieri, Mazzarri, with all those who came to Inter there are too many to name.
“I hope Luciano can give stability to the team and win something for us.”
