And that has convinced the Real Madrid ace to seek a move to Old Trafford.
United are hoping to wrap up a deal for the Spaniard in the coming days ahead of their pre-season tour to the USA.
But despite Morata already agreeing personal terms with the Red Devils, United and Madrid are yet to agree a fee.
Los Blancos are pushing for a fee of around £70m but United are reluctant to meet their valuation.
Alvaro Morata wants to join Manchester United
However, in a recent meeting between Morata's father, agent and Madrid club officials it was made clear of his plans to move to England.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claim Morata has been sold on the idea of being Mourinho's star striker next term.
The Portuguese boss, who worked with Morata during his time at the Bernabeu, trusts Morata to fill Zlatan Ibrahimovic's boots.
Morata wants the chance to prove himself in England's top flight and knows he needs to be playing regularly if he is to make Spain's 2018 World Cup squad.
The 24-year-old netted 15 goals in La Liga, and three in the Champions League, as he helped fire them to a domestic and European double.
Morata's current contract with Madrid runs until 2021.
