Alexandre Lacazette to Arsenal: Arsene Wenger cool Mbappe interest to focus on Lyon star
ARSENAL are set to focus all their energy on trying to sign Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette - and have pulled out of the race to sign Kylian Mbappe.
Alexandre Lacazette best goals and skills
Arsene Wenger is keen to bolster his strike force this summer, as he seeks to turn his side into title contenders.
Olivier Giroud’s future remains uncertain and recent reports suggested he could be used in a part-exchange deal in order to land Lacazette.
Mbappe is likely to fetch a world-record transfer fee and he has courted interest from Real Madrid.
And now according to the Daily Mail, Wenger is ready to abandon his pursuit of Mbappe.
The report says the French boss is aware his chances of signing the teenage star are very slim.
Alexandre Lacazette is a top target for Arsenal
Instead, it is suggested the Gunners will go all out to complete deals for Lacazette and Mbappe’s team-mate Thomas Lemar.
Other reports have suggested the Gunners have seen a bid rejected for Lacazette.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently admitted he’s not under pressure to sell Lacazette.
Kylian Mbappe was on Arsenal's radar
He said: “I do not intend to sell Alexander quickly, because there is always the option of Atletico Madrid to signing him on January 1, 2018.
"I also listen to what Alexander says.
“I saw Arsene during the match between France and England [on June 13]. I was with Gerard Houllier [who is an adviser to Aulas] and I understand he told Gerard that there could be an interest from Arsenal.”
