Jose Mourinho is pressing ahead with his transfer plans and has prioritised signing a midfielder.
A deal for Chelsea star Nemanja Matic for a fee of £40million is in the pipeline as Antonio Conte is set to bring Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko to Stamford Bridge.
Niguez has been a long-term target for United, but currently has a £71million buy-out clause in his contract.
But the Spaniard, who helped this country reach the final of the European Under-21 Championship, isn’t thinking about leaving the club.

Saul Niguez insists he wants to stay at Atletico Madrid as Man Utd eye swoop
“I have no intention of moving,” he said.
“I’m where I want to be and things are going to remain the same.
“They [Atletico] have put their trust in me since I was young and I want to repay that confidence.”
United’s interest in Niguez isn’t new.
Daily Telegraph journalist Jason Burt revealed the Red Devils were offered the chance to sign him, but turned him down.
Manchester United target Fabinho displays impressive skills
“When I see Saul Niguez play I remember a conversation I had with an agent 3 years ago who said he'd offered him to Man Utd but they said no,” he said.
Niguez has already rejected talk of a transfer away from Atletico, who are still serving a transfer ban.
Earlier this month he said: “I have not heard any [of the speculation over his future]," Saul said.
"Anyway if I had to do anything about my future, it would be after the Euros. Because I am focused on this tournament."
