After netting early on in the first-half with a scuffed left-footed finish in his side’s Confederations Cup group game against Germany, Sanchez took his tally to 38 goals for his country, and he surpassed Marcelo Salas in the process.
In finding the net, he achieved the feat after picking up his 112th cap.
Salas previously held the record, helping himself to 37 goals in just 71 appearances.
Germany and Chile now face a great chance to qualify from their group.

Meanwhile, Sanchez’s Arsenal future remains in doubt.
And team-mate Shkodran Mustafi hopes he doesn’t leave the Emirates despite strong interest from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
