Reports suggest Mourinho has already made his mind up on Smalling’s future and doesn’t believe he is good enough, while Jones will be reduced to a back-up role.
Smalling managed just 18 appearances for United last season and came in for criticism from Mourinho amid concerns over his mental toughness.

And it seems Wenger could now be willing to offer the duo a fresh start in the capital if Mourinho decides to cash in on the pair.
It remains to be seen whether Portuguese boss Mourinho would sell to their Premier League rivals though.
