Henry Onyekuru to West Ham: Player to jet into London on Tuesday - report
WEST HAM could pip Arsenal to the signature of Henry Onyekuru, reports claim.
Henry Onyekuru could join West Ham
The 20-year-old Eupen star has been sounded out as a target by a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and recently promoted Newcastle.
The Gunners have already supposedly made a £6.8million offer for Onyekuru, and reports emerged earlier this week suggesting the Magpies had made a rival offer.
But the Mail on Sunday claim the Hammers are in the driving seat to sign the Nigeria international.
It is said Onyekuru could jet into London on Tuesday, and providing talks continue to go smoothly, could have a medical and the Hammers’ intention is to wrap up a deal this week.
Thierry Henry has always been my idol since I was a kid
The Mail on Sunday claim Onyekuru has been swayed by the prospect of first-team football, something he wouldn’t be guaranteed if he joined the Gunners.
It is suggested the Hammers, who could pay him £35,000-a-week would help him secure the work permit he needs to play in the Premier League.
When asked about Arsenal’s interest earlier this month, Onyekuru said: “Thierry Henry has always been my idol since I was a kid.
