David de Gea: Real Madrid don't need to sign Man Utd keeper - Shaka Hislop
REAL MADRID do not need to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea this summer, according to Shaka Hislop.
INCREDIBLE saves by Manchester United's David De Gea
De Gea has been heavily linked with a mega-money switch to Real Madrid from Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window.
The Red Devils are not interested in selling their star man and rejected a world record bid for a goalkeeper of £60million a week ago.
The Spaniard came close to joining Real in the summer of 2015 but the move was not able to be completed before the window slammed shut.
Keylor Navas has been the No.1 at the Bernabeu since the departure of Iker Casillas that same summer and has helped Los Blancos to back-to-back Champions League titles.
Shaka Hislop does not think Real Madrid need Man Utd goalkeeper David de Gea
I don't think Real Madrid need David de Gea, but David de Gea is an upgrade on Keylor Navas
And Hislop believes that shows signing a goalkeeper this summer should not be a priority for manager Zinedine Zidane.
"I don't think they need David de Gea, but David de Gea is an upgrade on Keylor Navas," the former West Ham keeper said on ESPN FC.
"Don't get me wrong here, I'm a huge Keylor Navas fan. I thought, especially last season, he was simply outstanding, for my money Real Madrid's best player.
"He started off this season with an injury and kind of stuttered especially early on.
Shaka Hislop says Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas is quality
"But you don't win back-to-back Champions Leagues, regardless of how good you are, how good the other 10 are, without having a quality goalkeeper between the sticks.
"Keylor Navas is that, but again, David de Gea for my money is an upgrade on Keylor Navas.
"But Real Madrid have no need to go out and buy a goalkeeper for buying a goalkeeper's sake."
