England take on the Auld Enemy in a World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park this weekend, and have been preparing with a trip to the Royal Marines’ Commando Training Centre.
Manager Southgate whisked his players away on a secret team-bonding mission last weekend, with almost the entire squad heading to Devon for the 48-hour retreat.
The players had their mobile phones taken off them and were dressed in military uniforms before taking part in a four-mile hike and camping out on Woodbury Common.
Only Gary Cahill, Eric Dier, Chris Smalling, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford missed the camp, with Southgate handing his players Monday off before football-based training resumes on Tuesday.
